So another monster preview, this time a Rigelan beserker left over from the last great war. There's a few things that current 4xes are doing (quest chains) that we're not, but we're also trying to provide a more in depth tactical game than what is currently out there. Reworking core code is what sunk Gaslamp. While we've kept pretty close to the design doc to try to avoid feature creep, we've had some "UI creep" with trying to increase feedback with dynamic tooltips. But it's given us an opportunity to do things like rework the building art into 3d, add some more strike craft art, etc. We were aiming originally for the end of last year but we've been reworking a lot of the code base. We have taken the chance to update the UI and one thing we're doing now is reworking the building art for colonies. All of which would have come out in beta or made it much harder. A lot of systems "worked" but couldn't be expanded on or we found out needed extensive re-writing to really operate as designed. The past 8 months or so really involved reworking a lot of the core code of the strategic game. The big indicator of that starting will be when we release the long promised second story trailer from the Arcturan perspective.īut along with that will also be getting towards the closed beta period.
